Why someone might seek anal dearmouring
Someone might explore anal dearmouring because they experience tension, tightness, discomfort or difficulty relaxing around the anus, rectum and pelvic floor.
In somatic and bodywork practices, dearmouring refers to gently releasing patterns of muscular holding or guarding that may have developed over time.
1. Chronic pelvic floor tension — Some people unconsciously clench their anal sphincter and pelvic floor muscles, particularly during periods of stress.
2. Difficulty surrendering or relaxing — The pelvic floor can respond to anxiety and a heightened nervous system state by tightening.
3. Pain or discomfort during anal penetration — Some people experience involuntary muscular guarding that makes penetration uncomfortable.
4. Past sexual experiences or trauma — Some individuals notice protective muscular responses following difficult experiences. However, tension alone doesn't establish that trauma is present.
5. Constipation or difficulty releasing bowel movements — An overactive or poorly coordinated pelvic floor can make bowel movements difficult.
6. Reconnecting with bodily sensations — Some people pursue somatic bodywork to develop greater awareness of their pelvic floor, boundaries and physical sensations.
7. Exploring pleasure — Learning to relax the pelvic floor may help some people experience greater comfort and pleasure during intimacy.
From an emotional and energetic perspective and within somatic traditions, anal dearmouring is sometimes associated with themes of control, safety, trust, vulnerability and letting go.
